Dougie Lynn Leads the Way
Dougie Lynn,The Branch Wings Organizer, decided to mark his elevation to the ranks of an OAP by carrying out a 'Sponsored Run' to help this year's 'Wings' appeal' which supports respite and care homes for members and ex-members of the Royal Air Force and their families. Over the last few weeks he trained hard to prepare himself for this run following a 6 week vigorous training regime which was prepared by Crecia and staff at the OK Gym in Los Dolses.
All this training paid off, for in the early hours of Sunday morning on the 13th June, with many RAFA friends in support, he made his 5km run, alongside the canal at Los Dolses, in just under 45 minutes. It was a nerve wracking time for his supporters who were left waiting in anticipation of his return from the run with only a full 'English' breakfast to sustain them, thoughtfully provided by the staff of 'Bill's Open Lounge' who had opened up especially early in support of the run.
As a result of his efforts, Dougie has so far raised the superb sum of €502:85c with more in the pipeline. His generous sponsors, not only included friends from within the RAFA Branch but also included several members of the other ex-service organisations which has proved the Service comradeship that exists along this part of the Costa Blanca
