Miles More Minutes to support serving RAF
The RAF Association has launched its latest campaign to help serving members of the RAF and their families.
Miles More Minutes will enable men and women who are serving overseas to have more time to speak with their loved ones back home.
Currently RAF personnel who are deployed in theatres such as Afghanistan receive 30 minutes of MoD funded phone calls per week.
Miles More Minutes aims to fund more telephone talk time for them to speak to their loved ones, enabling them to feel closer even though they are so far apart.
Paradigm (see Below how they work), has been responsible for the provision of welfare communications services to the MoD since September 1999.
It is the Associations aim to be able to offer every deployed person with access to the operational welfare package an extra £10 call card for each tour of 4-6 months to start with.
If this proves a success, the amount of minutes offered could increase in the future.
The RAF Associations interim Director of Fundraising, Rachel Huxford, said We would like to show our support for our courageous RAF personnel by providing them with more time to speak to their families, free of charge.
Hopefully this will help our serving men and women feel more in touch with their families back home, making things a little easier for them while they are away.?
Just one £20 Donation could be the equivalent of six more minutes each day for a month.
Over the coming months, a series of events will be taking place which will help support the campaign, including a vintage car rally, Isle of Man TT race and the London and Edinburgh Marathons.
The scheme has already received support from various household names including the Red Arrows, Virgin Money Giving and Walkers.
