Why, When & How
Over the years, it is understood that there have been several attempts to get a RAFA Branch on the Costa Blanca off the ground, but for whatever reason(s)it never happened. In November 2003, whilst attending a Remembrance Service in Torrevieja, several EX RAF chaps got together and decided to give it a go. This time it succeeded and far better than anyone could have imagined. On 16th January 2004, following publicity in the local press, over 40 people attended a meeting to discuss interest in forming a RAFA Costa Blanca Branch. As such a Committee was formed to steer the Branch and in March we were officially formed and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Branch was presented with its Branch Number 1359 by RAFA HQ and following a generous donation by, our late Vice President Dennis Cheetham, we received our Branch Standard in May 2004. The Standard was Dedicated in the LA Siesta Church on 14th June 2004 at a ceremony conducted by our own Chaplain Phil Haward MBE. In November of 2006 the Branch were honored to host the Annual Conference of the European Area.
The branch holds regular meetings and social events at the Social Club, Ciudad las Communicaciones which are enjoyed by all that attend. New members are always welcomed and should in the first instance contact the Webmaster Norman Scotting.
