2011 Easter processions In Torrevieja

The processions, begins on Sunday April 17 and
finish on Sunday 24 April.
The municipal towing service, remove the vehicles
parked on the route of the procession at least 12
hours before the start of each procession.
PALM SUNDAY, April 17 - 2011
- At 10:00 a.m.: PALM BLESSING
At the church Templo del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús.
Then, traditional procession up to the church Templo
Arciprestal de la Inmaculada Concepción, carrying the
statues of “NUESTRO PADRE JESÚS TRIUNFANTE”
and “SAN JUAN EVANGELISTA”.

In the crossroads of María Parodi and Ramón Gallud, we
will be the witness, once all participating Cofradías are
arrived, of the so-called “Encuentro en la Vía Dolorosa”
meeting between the statues of JESUS and his MOTHER,
“THE VIRGIN”.

the same, the “Francisco Vallejos” choir will sing the songs
“Señor me cansa la vida” and “Madre del Silencio”.

PROCESSION, departing from the Plaza del Calvario, with
the participation of the Cofradía “NUESTRA SEÑORA DE
LA PIEDAD”; When the statue goes out, the “Francisco
Vallejos” choir will sing the song “La Pasión del la Tía Tortas”.

- “T A M B O R A D A” - A 10 p.m.: When the “Solemne Vigilia Pascual” mass at the church Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción is finished, “POPULAR TAMBORADA” (drum concert) as a general expression of exultation due to Jesus Christ Resurrection. All people waiting to participate may come with a drum.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY, April 24 - 2011
- At 7:45 a.m.: ENCOUNTER PROCESSION departing from the church Templo Arciprestal de la Inmaculada Concepción, with the participation of the Cofradía “SAN JUAN EVANGELISTA”, the “INMACULADA CONCEPCION (Torrevieja’s Patron Saint)” and the “SANTISIMO SACRAMENTO BAJO PALIO” statues accompanied by the music band “Unión Musical Torrevejense”.
In the crossroads of the streets Concepción and Fotógrafos Darblade, we will be the witnesses of the traditional “ENCUENTRO” (Encounter).
At the very moment of the “ENCUENTRO”, from the balconies of the houses situated at the crossroads of the Concepción and Fotógrafos Darblade streets will fall loads of petals; once back from the procession to the church, the traditional “Hallelujahs” will be sang from the balconies of the houses throughout the trajectory.
At the end of this procession, a so-called “Misa de Campaña” mass will be held at the Templo Arciprestal de la Inmaculada Concepción church’s door.
