‘Help for Heroes’ is a charity registered in the UK which, since its beginnings in 2007, has had remarkable success in raising finds and establishing programmes to help members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. The charity was started by Bryn and Emma Parry because they wanted to help those returning injured from Iraq and Afghanistan. Already they have raised eight million pounds for a brand new rehabilitation centre at Hedley court which is due to be completed this year. A further 20 Million pounds has been raised and allocated to four personnel recovery centres around the country. Taking account of all their initiatives which includes an additional 11.5 million pounds on individual recovery plans Help for Heroes has raised and spent an amazing 50 million pounds in the very short time the charity has been in existence, a measure also of how the general public has responded to what the charity is trying to do. All the money that is spent and the projects Help for Heroes is involved in are designed to help wounded servicemen and women into a rehabilitation programme, to hasten their recovery and rebuild their careers, whatever they may decide to do. Much still needs to be done in establishing new projects and continuing to support existing ongoing programmes.

The Hop Bar in La Zenia Village will be holding a Fun Day this Saturday on the 29th May in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’. Starting at 12.00 midday there will be a parade led by the Scottish Pipes and Drums, followed by members of the Royal Naval, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force and the Royal British Legion Associations, marching from the La Zenia Consum supermarket car park, towards the roundabout, turning left and then right under the N332 flyover, right into Calle San Antonio and finishing at The Hop.
